National Principles for the Resumption of Sport and Recreation Activities

Gymnastics Australia has welcomed the release of the National Principles for the Resumption of Sport and Recreation Activities.

This important document, released by the National Cabinet on Friday 1 May, provides an important pathway for a safe return for all sports.

Playing a central role in the development of these Principles and needing to be considered alongside them, the AIS has also launched the Framework for Rebooting Sport in a COVID-19 Environment.

Both documents were developed in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officers from several sports, including Dr Kathy Yu from Gymnastics. In consultation with the Federal Governments’ Chief Medical Officer the documents provide a much-needed guide for how we can safely reintroduce sport back into the lives of all Australians following the current pandemic.

Gymnastics Australia, along with our State and Territory Associations, will continue to work with Sport Australia, the AIS and all relevant health departments to ensure our clubs are implementing the right measures and continue to adhere to the strictest hygiene measures to ensure a safe return to our sport for all members.
