Update from the Gymnastics in Australia Working Group
The Gymnastics in Australia Working Group met by teleconference on 5 May 2020 to continue its work in relation to the long term governance and membership model for our sport.
Gymnastics Australia recognises the devastating impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the gymnastics community, and the community at large, and our thoughts and best wishes are with all gymnasts, and gymnastics clubs, coaches, judges, and administrators at this difficult time.
As a component of GA’s strategy of managing today to enable tomorrow, the Gymnastics in Australia Working Group remains committed to its objective of preparing a recommendation of one or several preferred governance models in time for the Gymnastics Australia AGM, which will now be held on 25 July 2020 in Melbourne (and electronically, if required).
As we move into a more intense period of work leading up to the AGM, the Board of Gymnastics Australia has recently made some changes to the terms of reference and the composition of the Working Group. To view these, click here
Lucy Fyfield (owner of Melbourne Gymnastics Centre in Victoria) and Carol Mills (President of Gymnastics NSW) have joined the Working Group alongside Ben Heap (Vice President of Gymnastics Australia), Sam McKay (President of Gymnastics Australia), Mark Moncur (director of Gymsports Management in Tasmania) and Daren Wolfe (President of Gymnastics Queensland).
Gymnastics Australia would like to thank the previous members of the Working Group (Russell D’Costa, Desiree Jones, Judy Young, Nadine Weight, and Colin Southworth) for their significant contributions to help position the Working Group for the next steps.
The WG is keen to hear from the gymnastics community. Members of community are invited to provide their views to the Working Group and to this end, a dedicated email address has been created: [email protected]
